Dog Falls Alternative Route
With the Dog Falls bridge temporarily out of action there is thankfully an alternative route for walkers (for cyclists it means an uphill carrying the bike) that enables continued access not only to the Affric Kintail Way but also the FCS waymarked walks on the south side of the falls.
About .5 kilometer downriver from the Dog Falls car park there is a small footbridge that crosses the River Affric and joins the waymarked trail that takes in Coire Loch. This trail climbs to join the main forestry road that follows the south side of Loch Beinn a’ Mheadain. The snapshot below from the FCS guide hopefully clarifies this further.
Another option that suits all methods of travel is from Dog Falls travel west along the single track public road to River Affric Car Park.
